Even though short-form video content has been all the rage in recent years, other video lengths have found areas of growth. And as social video competes with traditional TV for eyeballs, audiences are seeking more substantial (longer) content on various platforms like YouTube – as data from Tubular Labs' new H2 2024 State of Social report showcases.

  • While 0-30 second videos have the most views and uploads, engagement and views are relatively static (up/down 2%) year-over-year, even as uploads still climb 10%.
  • Meanwhile, 30-60 second videos have the most views per video, most engagements and most engagements per video; this, while uploads still grew by 39% year-over-year.
  • Videos beyond one minute long have also shown growth on YouTube, indicating a renewed, robust approach to content creation on the platform across a variety of video lengths.
