TV Netting More Watch-Time On Social Video
While January saw major news events, Tubular Labs analysis shows TV’s increasing move toward social video is coming through uploads.
Data from Tubular Labs shows that TV networks and programs are soaring on social video, as AdAge reported exclusively last week.
While January saw major news events like Donald Trump’s inauguration, L.A. fires and the upcoming Super Bowl, Tubular Labs analysis shows TV’s increasing move toward social video is coming through uploads. According to Tubular:
- Cable and broadcast networks have seen U.S. unique viewers and minutes watched alike increase by double digits month-over-month across Facebook and YouTube.
- ABC News increased uploads across the two platforms by 40% month-over-month, while NBC News jumped by 62% and CBS News grew by 31%.
As more viewers are watching news on social, the move by media companies to publish more content there (largely repurposed TV clips) aligns with that behavior, and even helps push it along further.
