truTV Jumps Into Top 15 Most-Watched TV Networks
Each week, we highlight the most-watched shows and networks using insights from Inscape, the currency-grade smart TV ACR data provider and data technology division of Vizio. Data is linear, live TV only and includes all episode types (new and reruns). Rankings are by percent share duration (i.e., time spent watching). Here's a look at the top 25 networks by viewership share for March 18-24 — head over to TVREV to see the program ranking and get insights about the top shows by watch-time.
Fueled primarily by the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, truTV secures No. 13 on the chart with a 1.52% viewership share. Often, the network does not rank among the top 50 networks. CBS is also benefiting from action on the court, remaining in first place and growing its share from 7.57% to 10.55% week-over-week, thanks in part to the tournament.
Some additional highlights around the most-watched TV networks:
- TBS and TNT were also feeling the basketball love, moving up the ranking into sixth and eighth places, respectively. TNT’s jump was especially notable — previously it was at No. 21.
- Only two other networks saw (minor) week-over-week ranking increases: Investigation Discovery, which moves from No. 14 to No. 12, and History (from No. 25 to No. 24).
- Although MSNBC and USA retain ranking positions week-over-week, both saw a slight uptick in viewership share — while ABC, NBC, Fox News and Fox all stayed put on the chart but had watch-time decreases compared to the previous week.
