TikTok's short-term ban highlighted how successful many (especially U.S.) creators are on the platform – but also how essential it is for all creators to find platform diversification in order to maximize audience reach.

Data from Tubular Labs shows how top TikTok creators approached platform diversification in a variety of ways this past December:

  • Top creators on TikTok perform well on other platforms: 69% of the top 100 U.S. TikTok creators in December also garnered at least 1 million video views on Facebook or YouTube.
  • 14 of the top 100 U.S. TikTok creators in December 2024 didn't have ANY presence on another platform.
  • 31 of the top 100 U.S. TikTok didn't have a strong presence off TikTok (1 million or more views on either Facebook or YouTube).
  • Media companies and sports properties are best diversified on social platforms, with ESPN, House of Highlights, Bleacher Report all garnering more than 10 million views on YouTube, Meta or both.
