TikTok Music Trends: July 2023 — Taylor’s Version

Music’s influence on TikTok continues to be a driving force behind the success of brands and artists. With that in mind, Songtradr highlighted the latest TikTok hacks, trends, and music showcasing how music has brilliantly elevated UGC and can be used by brands to develop eye-catching campaigns.

Notably, two of the three tracks highlighted feature variations of songs by Taylor Swift, who’s currently on tour.

  1. Track: Olivia Rodrigo- Vampire
    Trend: She’s Doing What?
The emerging trend highlights personal development and overcoming challenges. Users juxtapose past moments with sassy captions targeting doubters, followed by clips showcasing their current achievements.
  2. Track: Original Sound- sp33dsongsx
    Trend: Text Your Ex/Crush Challenge
The engaging trend features a fast-paced rendition of Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," using a spinning clown face to select participants who then send messages to exes or crushes. Caution is advised due to potential music rights issues, as the song is listed as 'original sound' on TikTok, but is actually a Taylor Swift track.
  3. Track: Fearless (the sped-up sound version) r & m <33
Trend: The “My Red Flags” trend
In this trend, creators utilize a sped-up Taylor Swift track and the My Red Flags filter to share their unique "red flags," which are quirky traits that serve as potential "warning signs." Similar to the previous trend, confirming music rights on TikTok is essential.
