South Korean Shorts Creator Tops Global YouTube Charts
YouTube may be pushing (successfully) to be seen as more traditional TV, but much of the platform’s top content remains rooted – first and foremost – in user-generated content.
According to Tubular Labs, YouTube’s top global creator by unique YouTube viewers is KIMPRO – a South Korean Shorts creator with 605.1 million people tuning in this January. Further analysis shows that:
- The shorts creator has 200 million more unique viewers than any other creator, as the channel’s generated worldwide reach.
- South Korea isn’t even among the top 10 countries by audience location, and 29% of its viewers are based in the U.S.
- Despite the huge audience, KIMPRO hasn’t partnered with brands the way many other top Shorts creators have, revealing an opportunity gap for KIMPRO and brands alike, with an untapped U.S. audience that ad breaks against the channel won’t reach due to its Shorts focus.
