Smart TV Data: Summer’s Streaming Surge
With traditional TV schedules on hiatus, summer brings about a surge in streaming viewing time from smart TVs, according to a Q2 analysis from Inscape.
- After a few quarters of plateauing, streaming’s share of viewing time inched up in Q2 2024, reaching a record high of 58.2%.
- Increases in time spent streaming during May (58%) and June (59.3%) helped fuel this high water mark.
- Meanwhile, cable/satellite only captured about a third of viewing time, a decrease of about five percentage points year-over-year.
