October Trump Articles Double Up Harris Stories
According to recent Chartbeat research around reader behaviors, 2 million people read 10 or more articles about Donald Trump in October – four times the number that read 10 or more articles about Kamala Harris. Why? Well, there's more to it (and more to these audience behaviors beyond just candidate preference):
- A primary reason for the difference is simply because of how the two U.S. presidential candidates are covered, as there were 90.9K articles featuring Trump, versus 44.5K around Harris.
- "Illegal immigration" was the top immigration-related topic, but Harris readers were more likely to consume articles featuring the term "illegal immigrant" and 4.7x more likely to read pieces with the term "border policy."
- Despite all of the differences in audience behaviors, there was also 95% overlap on both sides between folks that read articles about Trump and Harris.
