YouTube has increasingly become a force in terms of viewership across every screen, and news is one area where publishers have shown an excellent ability to take advantage there. Tubular Labs data reveals September's top domestic news & politics media by U.S. watch-time on YouTube, and MSNBC reigns supreme.

  • MSNBC scored 1.2 billion minutes of watch-time on YouTube thanks to a combination of lengthy clips, live videos and shorter segments as well in the lead-up to the U.S. presidential election.
  • Law & Crime Network, meanwhile, finds extensive video explainers and two-hour segments on celebrity investigations (this month, Diddy, in particular) helps keep audiences hooked for nearly a billion minutes as well.
  • ABC News surged in September, increasing YouTube watch-time by 77% month-over-month, at least in part on presidential debate coverage.
