Men Watched U.S. News Videos For 2.5x Longer Than Women

News & political media content has high watch-time across social video, but men were still watching significantly more than women in the U.S. Tubular Labs Audience Ratings data from April 2024 shows U.S. men watched over 5 billion minutes of video content from the top 500 news and political media creators across Facebook and YouTube, compared to just over 2 billion minutes watched by U.S. women.
- U.S. news & politics media watch time for women has bounced within a relatively small range since April 2023. While women accounted for 28.8% of domestic minutes watched in April 2024, it was 29.0% in March 2024 and 26.9% in April 2023.
- Despite the overall advantage for men in terms of minutes watched, certain creators were watched by women for more minutes. In April, U.S. women watched Law & Crime Network for 11% more minutes than men and True Crime Daily for 47% more.
- Law & Crime Network, in particular, saw women’s share of minutes watched increase from 39.5% to 52.6% over the past year.
