How Netflix Keeps Its Churn Rate At An Industry Best

With so many streaming options and escalating pricing tiers, churn has become an increasingly persistent problem for these services. And while every company in the streaming space battles subscriber churn, one giant seems to withstand those pressures better than the rest in recent years.

  • According to Parrot Analytics' Streaming Metrics, Netflix has the best monthly churn rate of the top premium SVOD services across the United States and Canada by a considerable margin: Sitting between just 1 and 3% over the last two years – well below the industry average of 5%.
  • Given its title volume and production spending, Netflix has accounted for over 20% of all new streaming original releases in three of the past four quarters, constantly giving subscribers something fresh to tune into (and stay subscribed for).
  • Even with increased prices for Netflix, the company has still reduced churn in 2024, after an uptick last year.
