In June, Claudia Sheinbaum was the first woman to win the presidency in Mexican history, defeating (fellow woman) Xóchitl Gálvez at the polls. But interestingly, social video viewership didn't net the same result, as data from Tubular Labs shows.

  • TikTok accounted for 75% of overall viewership about the 2024 Mexican election from June 2023 to June 2024.
  • While Sheinbaum won the most votes, it was Gálvez who won on social video. From April 1, 2024 to June 14, #XochitlGalvez garnered 3.47 billion views — 80% more than #ClaudiaSheinbaum.
  • Interestingly, about 76% of TikTok views about Sheinbaum came from individual creators – versus just 18% for media companies.
