How Best Original Song Nominees Have Trended On Spotify

"Naatu Naatu" from Rrr took home the Oscar for Best Original Song this year, but in the lead-up to the big night, Spotify popularity painted a different picture, according to data from Songtradr. With major artists like Rihanna ("Lift Me Up") and Lady Gaga ("Hold My Hand") up for the award as well, those songs have by far had the most Spotify streams of any nominated original song this year – though it still didn't mean any hardware for the popular singles.

• "Naatu Naatu" has been an international hit, even if it has fewer listens than the aforementioned tracks more geared to a U.S. audience; the song is the most-listened to track on Spotify for all three collaborators (M. M. Keeravani, Rahul Sipligunj and Kala Bhairava).
• "Lift Me Up" has failed to lose much steam on Spotify since it debuted around the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever last November. Songtradr data shows the song has been between the 83rd and 90th percentile on Spotify for more than four months now.
