Email Drives More Sales Than SMS, Social and Banner Ads

New research from Marigold’s 2023 Digital Consumer Trends Index report indicates email is the most effective channel to influence purchases.
Marigold, in partnership with Econsultancy, released its 2023 Digital Consumer Trends Index report which found email to be the most effective channel in driving product sales. Research from the report shows that 52% of consumers purchase a product directly as result of receiving an email. This figure is 108% higher than SMS and banner ads and a 4% growth year-over-year.
More from the report:
- Less than a quarter of consumers made a purchase directly as a result of a banner ad, which is a 29% drop from the previous year, and only 12% of marketers plan to devote budget to banner ads this year.
- 3 out of 8 consumers have bought something from an email on their mobile device - a 3% increase from 2022.
- Only 25% of consumers have purchased something after receiving a piece of SMS marketing
