CBS Captured Over 11% of TV Watch-Time Last Week
Largely thanks to the NFL playoffs, CBS moves into first place on the network ranking, per Inscape data for Jan. 6-12.
Each week, we highlight the most-watched shows and networks using insights from Inscape, the currency-grade smart TV ACR data provider and data technology division of Vizio. Data is linear, live TV only and includes all episode types (new and reruns). Rankings are by percent share duration (i.e., time spent watching). Largely thanks to the NFL playoffs, CBS moves into first place on the network ranking, up from third the previous week, with an 11.26% viewership share. Other programs fueling watch-time included The Price Is Right, CBS Mornings, The Young and the Restless and Let’s Make a Deal. NBC also benefited from the NFL playoffs, and moves from fourth to second place week-over-week, capturing 8.92% of all minutes watched.
Some additional insights around the week’s top TV networks:
- The big three cable news networks all saw increased watch-time compared to the previous week: Fox News grew its viewership share from 5.79% to 7.70%, taking third place on the chart, while CNN moves from No. 10 to No. 8 (with watch-time rising from 1.40% previously to 1.62%). MSNBC has the biggest ranking position jump, from No. 20 to No. 12, increasing its viewership share from 0.90% to 1.28%.
- Spanish-language networks Univision and Telemundo both move up the chart week-over-week, taking No. 11 (up from No. 12) and No. 17 (up from No. 22), respectively.
- Although HGTV, TBS and Investigation Discovery all retain their ranking positions from the previous week, each saw slight upticks in minutes watched.
- Oxygen was the sole week-over-week chart newcomer, landing at No. 23 (up from No. 30) with a 0.77% viewership share.
