Top TV shows are appealing primarily to Gen Z audiences, according to data from Parrot Analytics. From Jan. 1-Aug. 8, nine of the 10 most in-demand shows worldwide (excluding Japanese and kids animation) were resonating most with audiences ages 15 to 31.

  • Reacher (on Amazon Prime Video) was the only top-10 series that resonated more with slightly older audiences in the Millennial and Gen X+ range (32-42+).
  • Within the top 10, seven series were most resonant with male viewers, versus just three trending more female. None of the top 10 series over-indexed with female Millennial/Gen X+ viewers.
  • At the same time, shows with more female viewers – including Breaking BadThe Big Bang TheoryYoung SheldonThe Simpsons and many more –also appeared among the 40 most in-demand TV shows during this stretch; indicating that audience demand is certainly there, even if not at the highest levels.
