60% of Smart TVs Solely Streamed Content in Q2
Slowly but surely, smart TVs are moving in a streaming-only direction and eschewing traditional inputs (cable, satellite, over-the-air antenna), according to Inscape’s Q2 2024 Market Trends report.
- 60% of smart TVs only streamed content — i.e., never used traditional inputs — during Q2, a quarter-over-quarter increase of nearly 2%.
- On the flip side, only 4% of smart TVs solely accessed content via cable/satellite/OTA.
- Just over a third of smart TVs used both streaming and traditional inputs, but that group is also on the decline, with a 2% share decrease vs. Q1 2024 and a 6% reduction from Q2 2022.
